Manabu SUGII(杉井 学)

I graduated from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Yamaguchi University in 1996, then obtained a doctorate degree (science) from the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Yamaguchi University in 2001 for my research on regulatory factors for cellular division that exist in Tetrahymena ciliates. From 2001 I was involved in research on gene expression profiling and recombinants for Chlamydophila pneumoniae at a teaching unit in the Department of Reproductive, Pediatric and Infectious Science, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Yamaguchi University as an Adjunct Professor. Then in 2002 I was hired as an Assistant at the Media and Information Technology Center, Organization for Academic Information, Yamaguchi University. I was involved in analyzing genetic information through the use of machine learning, developing an email filtering system, and developing an e-learning system, before rising to the rank of Assistant Professor in 2006. I relocated for one year to the University of Gottingen as a Guest Researcher in 2011, where I worked on computer simulations of cell division cycles using Petri nets. Afterwards, in 2015 I transferred to the Faculty of Global and Science Studies, Yamaguchi University.
